PLASTIC TAX AND OUR CUSTOMERS

We are certain all our customers understand as from 1st April 2022 the Government will begin implementing the Plastic Tax charge across the UK.

As it has been widely documented and publicised to date, this tax is applicable to any plastic packaging with less than 30% PCR content & will be charged at a rate of £200.00 per tonne on the gross weight of the product. Please note that any product purchased for delivery before the 1st April will not be subject to this tax.

As manufacturers and importers of such products, Manupackaging UK will be paying the tax in line with HMRC’s rules & guidelines, however the tax charge will be invoiced on to customers of applicable products.

Due to essential software updates related to Plastic Tax charging, we will be unable to despatch any goods on 1^st April and we are asking customers to be considerate of this when placing orders.

Even though the tax is completely out of our control, Manupackaging UK have actively been developing and promoting the Manunature (hyperlink to GO GREEN page) range of sustainable products containing 30% PCR content & therefore would be Plastic Tax exempt, as well as offering alternative products that can help counteract the cost of the tax through the means of using thinner films with higher technical capabilities.

Our Customer Account Managers will be able to help customers with the comparisons, so that they can decide which option(s) works best for their application, and over the coming weeks we will be reaching out to customers to discuss these.
