Manupackaging UK worked with a leading UK beverage company to increase their pallet load stability without increasing costs.
A Manupackaging UK representative conducted a free STATS audit to collect key data on the client's existing product use; our representative used this data to make a number of constructive recommendations to how the goods could be wrapped more efficiently, ensuring these recommendations still achieved the correct load containment to ensure the client's palletised goods would still be transported securely.
The client was using a 23 micron power pre-stretch film and wrapped all their pallets using a fully automated stretch wrapping machine. Our key proposal was for the client to switch to our Melite film, with akey characteristic of it being increased holding forces and puncture resistance while also being thinner; the change in film reduced plastic consumption by 26%, but also increased the load containment forces by 2kg on the top, middle, and bottom areas of pallet.
Manupackaging UK's recommendation generated a cost saving of £50,000 per annum for the client, and the client was so satisfied with the outcome they asked us to conduct further STATS ausits at their other UK based sites, demonstrating that through additional product rationalisation and smarter purchasing, the total cost saving potential would be around £250,000 annually.
